Healthy Living Project

This project is part of the Church Street Healthy Living Centre Programme delivered in partnership with Age Concern, Westminster Advocacy Service for Senior Residents, London Tigers and Fourth Feathers. The programme is supported by Westminster Primary Care Trust.

It is a five year project which started in November 2003 and is aimed at improving the health and general well-being of Asians living in the Church Street Ward.

The following are just some of the activities that are delivered:
• Welfare benefits advice and information
• Healthy eating lunch clubs, cookery classes and shopping trips
• Tea/coffee drop-ins
• Health information and advice sessions – topics include: smoking cessation, managing diabetes, blood pressure, dental health, First Aid, food hygiene.
• Physical activities such as swimming, walks, exercise classes and weight reduction classes
• Daytrips to seasides
• Community events such as sports days and fast-breaking parties.
